WHAT READERS ARE SAYING!
Took me a day to read your book, was hooked from start to finish. Had perfect flow, absolutely loved it. CHARLES P.
… really enjoyed it. Actually shed a few tears…. NIK C. It was fun to read. Well written. Forever a gem! Kris C.
You had me equal parts laughing and crying. It was excellent. An engaging story set in small-town Canada, with heart and sincerity to spare. This book is wonderful. Ian's writing is beautiful. JASON F.
East Coast Magic: …. the style gripped me, and the characters exemplified a freedom experienced by an earlier generation and not available in these times. Toys and games were homemade, imagination inspired ingenuity and open spaces allowed exploration without travel. Life was simpler and kinder to children. The writer inspires so many similar memories in those of us similar in age and lifestyle. Will reread many times in the following years. GREGORY G.
I just finished your book - and enjoyed every page! Makes me look back on the memories of my own past and appreciate how the paths I have taken - by choice or by circumstance - have shaped not only my life but in some measure the lives of those around me. Allowing others to read what one has written is a leap in faith … and it is certainly a leap that was well worth taking. Congrats again on a book well written and a story well told.

I just finished reading the book and I loved it! I can identify with the farm life so much - made me laugh at times and weep in others. So glad you wrote it - truly "a story that needed to be told."

As I sit waiting for my flight to board, I am reading this book …... It's about his memories and lessons he learned while growing up on the farm. …...Ian, you write beautifully, and I am really excited about reading the rest, although I don't really want it to end…...

…very descriptive writing. Great life lessons that we could all look back on in our own lives. This book drew me in, and I felt like I was on the farm…. Very interesting surprise when the picture was taken of your childhood home. I really liked it a lot…. Great writing.
KATHLEEN P. Well, you got your wish on the tears. The picture of Dan on the cover did it for me. What a tribute to him. Laurie F. |
An enjoyable and interesting read. …… Also found Ian’s insights to be heart warming.
DEBBIE CM. …. Awesome! Your voice stands out (what we teachers refer to as the personality of the writer). The book was a labour of love to family - it shows. THERESA G. |
…excellent turn of phrase throughout. Nicely brought together and finished. Would make a good movie or play; also thought provoking from your personal perspective and from my looking on.
MOIRA L. S. .... enjoying it very much. I can't believe how much it brings memories back to me about my younger years. Not many books can hold my attention but this one seems to. HAROLD I. |
Resilience, perseverance, "if it's worth doing it's worth doing well", common sense and above all care for the important people in our lives are timeless values; values that are best taught by example rather than sermons. Values that the author absorbed while spending many summers at his great aunt and uncle's farm in Cape Breton. A beautiful and heart warming story that is worth reading and well worth the reflection on our own life that follows.
